Exit doors and intermediate exit doors in public buildings and work places require permanent and well visible markings according to the different standards, rules and building codes.
The minimum requirement for the proper marking of exit doors is the egress sign above the door. There are many additional photoluminescent signs and other markings available such as door latches that help to immediately find the door handle in the dark. In case of heavy smoke it would be ideal to have low location markings lead you to the door.
Especially in large rooms and halls it is recommended to entirely mark the door frames. ASR A3.4/3 (German regulation for work places) even requires door frame marking as a component of the safety guidance system or alternatively a striping marking up to the door handle.
In most cases emergency exit doors are well visible and known. However, in many large halls, shopping centers and airport terminals special fire doors are installed to form fire cells. Those doors are usually unrecognized during normal operations.
In the event of a fire those doors lock to separate the fire cells. This changes the entire room arrangements to the building occupants, the egress routes change and you can quickly use orientation. In order to avoid panic it is essential to properly mark the egress routes and exit doors. Our economic and effective photoluminescent markings are perfectly suited for those applications.
